Description Jennifer Fukumae with Robert Half's Finance & Accounting practice is partnering with a leading Venture Capital firm in Palo Alto seeking an Assistant Controller to join their lean and collaborative team. This role will play a key part in transforming the corporate finance and accounting function, driving process improvements, and implementing scalable systems. Assistant Controller (Venture Capital Firm - Palo Alto) Hybrid | 3 Days in Office | $170-250K + Bonus + Profit Share + Excellent Benefits You'll support the firm's Management Company and collaborate closely across teams. Key Responsibilities: + Oversee day-to-day financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable, financial reporting, and FP& A (budgeting, forecasting, P& L management). + Assist with global consolidated budgeting, forecasting updates, and variance analysis. + Manage expense allocations across entities and help automate allocation processes. + Lead the selection and implementation of new Accounting and FP& A systems; enhance efficiency on AP/AR processes (e.g., Bill.com). + Partner cross-functionally with a commercial mindset-balancing budgets, priorities, and business needs. Requirements + 5-10+ years of accounting experience, ideally within venture capital, private equity, or alternative investments. + Strong understanding of GAAP, full-cycle accounting, and management reporting. + Proven experience improving systems, streamlining operations, and managing outsourced functions. + Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to "manage up" and work effectively with senior stakeholders. + CPA or equivalent certification preferred. + Familiarity with fund finance or management company accounting is a major plus.
