Join us as we continue to maintain the Navy's readiness! The South West Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Product Family is hiring an Elevator/Conveyor Support Technician. This technician will be responsible for the removal, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of ships' elevator and conveyor systems. This includes vertical package conveyors, dumbwaiters, cargo and weapons elevators, and medical personnel evacuation emergency platforms. They'll also handle the assembly, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modification, and testing of these systems to support U.S. Navy operations in San Diego, CA. What You Will Do + Maintains, repairs, and overhauls ships' elevator and conveyor systems, including cargo and weapons elevators, dumbwaiters, and vertical package conveyors. + Assembles, installs, aligns, and tests systems to ensure they are fully operational and ready to support U.S. Navy operations. + Master understanding of production and processes. + Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. + May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs. + Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. + Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks. + Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. + Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. + May perform quality inspections on finished product. + Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment. What You Must Have + High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience. + Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty. + Must have experience with utilizing standard mechanic's tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring instruments, fixtures, portable machine tools, and various gauges in the removal, maintenance, repair, overhaul, assembly, installation, alignment, and testing of shipboard elevator and conveyor equipment, components, and subassemblies. + Must be able to read, interpret, and understand technical references, data, ship drawings, equipment technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and sketches. + Must be able to identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components and subassemblies. + Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms, and where system equipment is hard-to-reach places, requiring the need to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work in inclement weather and/or with high noise levels. Additionally, be exposed to oil, grease, dirt, dampness, noise, and vibration. + Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC ID base access and DoD Secret Security Clearance. + Start date contingent upon approval of base access which is required for this position and continued employment. Preferred: Bonus Points For + A current, valid DoD confidential security clearance or higher. + Recent Elevator/Conveyer experience on USN ships. + Prefer technical/professional certifications. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
