Job Description

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician for Undergraduate Microbiology, Biology and Chemistry courses in the Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Health, Science and Technology.

The Laboratory Technician will be working with the undergraduate faculty. The responsibilities below refer to laboratories that are part of undergraduate courses.

NOTE: this is not a position in a research lab; these are teaching labs only.

Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Set-up and break-down of laboratory activities for undergraduate chemistry, biology and microbiology courses.
2. Maintenance of chemistry and biology stockrooms and autoclaving microbiology lab waste.
3. Laboratory clean-up, which includes washing glassware, maintaining laboratory safety standards and organizing laboratories.
4. Maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation used in undergraduate courses.
5. Completion of purchase orders for chemicals and teaching supplies.
6. Working with and managing undergraduate laboratory assistants.
7. Possible or potential adjunct assignments may be assigned.

Skill Sets:

Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and written)

Minimum Experience Required: Working in and/or managing laboratories at the college level. Laboratory teaching experience is a plus.

Education Requirements:

• Earned Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related; PhD degree preferred.
