Job Description

Overview Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH seeks a board-eligible or board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to join our Section of Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery. Our ideal candidate will work in a hospital-based, tertiary care facility and have a strong interest/expertise in expanding our busy orthognathic surgery practice, as well as help manage facial trauma, dentoalveolar surgery, and benign maxillofacial pathology caseload. Our current OMF surgeons within the ENT department are excited to expand our growing section and will provide support to help develop your practice and provide mentorship, if needed. Opportunities to expand to other areas of interest, including being involved in the craniofacial clinic are available. There may also be involvement in an outreach clinic in the southern part of New Hampshire. This is a full-time position, but part-time opportunities may also be considered. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collegial environment which includes an academic appointment with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. There are both research and teaching opportunities at Dartmouth College and with ENT and plastic surgery residents and medical students. Responsibilities * Provide clinical and related administrative services and actively participate in and contribute to DHC's academic endeavors. * Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct. * Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s). * Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s). * Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies. * Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies. * Interpret and evaluate test and study results. * Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations. * Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary. * Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable. * Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice. * Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner. * Provide patient and family-centered care. * Insure the patient's right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent. * Supervise APP's as directed. * Participate in continuing medical education (CME). * Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives. * Participate in academic responsibilities assigned by the Department Chair or designee, to include, but are not limited to: * Leading small group resident conferences * Training of Residents * Teaching medical and other health professional students * Participating in clinical trials or other sponsored research * Any other Geisel obligations (if any) * Perform other duties as assigned.
