What You’ll Be Doing
Responsible for coordinating, preparing, and reviewing tax returns and tax planning. Tax professional who can work with advisors and clients to explain complex tax, trust, estate, and financial planning related issues for high-net-worth clients. Meets with clients and develop client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and suggest solutions to client planning and tax issues.
- Responsible for researching various client financial planning and tax planning issues
- Recommend creative solution options
- Coordinate implementation of solutions with appropriate professionals
Serve as internal technical expert.
- Support complex high-net-worth client relationships with financial planning, trust, estate, and tax expert
- Provide direct interaction and delivery of advice to clients
- Work and coordinate with other JFS technical experts through the firm
- Serve as liaison between trust companies, trustees, and JFS clients trust accounts
Provide tax services.
- Prepares and reviews year-end tax planning analyses
- Completes tax returns and reviews
- Signs tax returns prepared by other staff members
Functions as tax return signor.
- Provide final review for assigned tax returns
- Responsible for quality and accuracy of tax returns prior to being sent to the IRS, state, local tax authorities
Monitor tax law and financial planning changes and develop planning strategies.
- Read and interpret tax law and financial planning changes
- Translate changes into understandable, user-friendly language and educate staff members
- Work with JFS Advisors and professional staff with developing effective client strategies designed to provide benefits to clients
Communicates advanced financial planning and tax related items to clients and staff members.
- Educate JFS Advisors and staff members on advanced financial planning and tax topics
- Provide periodic internal financial planning newsletters regarding pertinent financial planning and tax related items
- Contribute financial planning and tax related content to JFS Quarterly newsletters for clients and COIs.
- Participate in JFS webinars to discuss complex financial planning and tax topics
- Review financial planning and tax resource for junior members of the firm
Serves as a mentor to associate advisors and tax staff.
- Provide coaching and guidance to associate advisors and tax staff to help develop junior members of the firm
- Serve as a financial planning and tax resource for junior members of the firm
Contributes to team effort.
- Interacts with other employees to promote smooth workflow, identify, and resolve problems
- Advance the firm’s image and accomplish results which support the mission of JFS Wealth Advisors.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with preparation for client meetings
- Maintain a working knowledge of JFS’s compliance and operational policies and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assists in coaching and mentoring associate advisors and tax staff members
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with JFS organization’s policies and applicable laws and regulations
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees and interns; planning, assigning and directing work

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university majoring in accounting or finance
- Minimum Enrolled Agent, CPA is preferred
- 5 plus years of tax preparation and review required
- Financial planning, tax planning, and supervisory experience is preferred
- Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; CCH Tax Planning and Preparation Software is a plus
- CRM experience is a plus

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and manuals
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- The position requires overtime, as necessary, especially during tax season
- Availability to be on call after normal working hours
- Availability to travel when necessary
- Occasionally work at client locations which require the use of own vehicle
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
